"I don't know where to begin, I'm overwhelmed with the amount of support and love we received from Sharon and the amazing teacher. My family and I were welcomed with open arms. I'm so greaful and happy that I found a place where my angel can spread her wings and explore without any boundaries of limitations to grow. I'm so impressed on how she has grown attached to the teachers and her peers. I'm looking forward to what the future holds my princess. Thank you so much Sharon and the amazing team. I wished I knew about this centre earlier. I don't regret my decision for choosing this center, best decision I've ever made 😁😁❣️❣️"

"Our 3 children went through Riverhead Montessori and we could not have asked for a more awesome preschool experience for them! We always knew they were loved and happy at Monty and they were so so ready to tackle school thanks to wonderful teachers who really know how to instill a love of learning. A truly special spot!"

"Fantastic preschool environment, with friendly educated and consistent staffing. Great learning environment, and the kids are well prepped for school when the time comes. They are very well organised over all areas, and kids are always ready for pick up with their all belongings. I highly recommend Waikanae Montessori."

"a good place for kids up to 5 years old. the building is modern, teachers are good. clean space plenty of activities. not far from northland mall. easy access if you live north of Christchurch, a bit more challenging if you live in the city."

"My daughter currently attends this centre and her 12yr old brother was a former student here also for 3.5yrs. Upper Hutt Kindercare staff are absolutely amazing! My daughter’s teachers Bee and Marcela are the absolute best! They take excellent care of my daughter and always engage both her Dad and I. They also go the extra mile for example had it not been for the persistence of her teachers we wouldn’t know that she needed glasses which is a temporary measure (12months) to correct her vision. Left untreated would most likely result in permanent eye impairment. So a big thank you to her awesome teachers! It’s great to see some familiar faces among the teachers. They’re all so wonderful! Karina is at reception and still amazing as ever. So helpful, thorough and always engages parents where she can with her friendly and professional mannerism. Julia is in charge here and is very welcoming, friendly and professional. I could literally talk to her all day. She’s a great conversationalist and very engaging. Thinking back to my sons time here she always has been. Everything is so well organised and in order which is excellent. The facilities are of a high standard and very clean. Decor is bright and welcoming. As Maori parents I must say they exceed my expectations by a mile and do amazing work. They are very inclusive of all cultures and have somehow implemented a lot of the Maori cultural traditions into the centre. I think it’s great but The Ministry of Education need to tone it down on the implementation of Maori culture. They expect our ECE teachers who are working tirelessly with our youngest and future members of society to waste precious learning time on Maori culture. They’re already doing more than enough. Personally I feel our primary focus should be education. Strengthening our children’s numeracy and literacy. Learning through play and preparing our children for School. Upper Hutt Kindercare is an excellent centre with amazing staff who provide outstanding services with the utmost professionalism and care. Highly recommend!"

"I waited two years to write this review Because the community is so small and it affects so many people that I was nervous of how it would affect us. First, the good. They care. They really really care. The teachers and administrators breathe their life and soul into this school and you can tell. It is absolutely beautiful, stunning grounds, excellent equipment, and supplies. It is a good price for what you get and I was there during Covid and they did everything they could to keep the children safe and in school. The cons for me: Like most schools in New Zealand they don’t teach science. Wearing uniforms is not Montessori and that was hard for us. Because of the philosophy, my daughter was not allowed to write fiction stories, which is her passion. It seemed like such a small thing but being there for three years, had it significantly affect her development as a writer. My daughter became creative and started writing fantasy poetry because that didn’t count but again she was stopped. It ended up having quite an effect on her education for 3 years of being thwarted. She was also struggling a bit with math and my thought was that she was bored and I let her move up to algebra homeschool course online. She thrived. But through several meeting cautioned me against teaching her algebra away from the Montessori method, which also put her behind because of how strict they are on their particular philosophy. She also had a friend there with brown skin that left because Racist the other girls. Several meetings were made with administrators with a very poor outcome for the little girl of color leading them to leave schools. Their school plays are very bad. And while I don’t care at all really it’s more that they are not encouraged to be joyful and enthusiastic. The teachers and administrators say that the children need to be calm and they really, try to make them very subdue. I found it a little eerie. I found this displayed in the school plays with such lack of expression that made me uncomfortable to see children in such a state. I was happy for what it was able to get me for my daughter, but I didn’t understand the subtleties and I would not go back for I know, nor would I recommend it for the same reasons. Too restrictive. Some bullying and cliques. Missing the point of education in areas that they feel don’t match up with Montessori at the same time not strictly following Montessori."
