My children have been attending Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Boonton since 2008. I love the small classroom sizes you find at OLMC, it allows for a ton of extra attention and the teachers are able to really get to know each student and the students really get to know one another. I feel very strongly this environment has helped my children succeed. The middle school at OLMC starts in 5th grade and it's awesome! The teachers spend tons of time and energy on each of the kids, they are so supportive and truly want to see each one of the kids succeed. The specials at OLMC like art, music, gym, religion and life skills are taught in two grade groups so there is plenty of time each day when the students are in a larger classroom setting. Kindergarden to second grade teachers do a great job of getting the students reading and ready with math skills, laying a strong foundation for the next 8 years. Besides the excellent academic education my children receive they are really learning how to be good, kind people-to really think about how you treat others and yourself. If you are looking for small classroom sizes, an intimate family like environment that is nurturing and solid OLMC is for you!

I am so happy with my experience these past 5 years at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School (OLMC) in Boonton, NJ. My biggest concern when it was time for my son to start preschool was finding a place that would not only educate him, but help him to grow emotionally and spiritually in a safe and caring environment. OLMC has totally exceeded my expectations. My son has thrived in this environment. The teachers are dedicated, innovative and caring. Character building is a huge part of the culture of the school. The students do very well on standardized testing and the teachers do not spend the entire year teaching to the test! The learning environment is dynamic and creative, and the class size allows for a tremendous amount of individual attention. Students are encouraged and supported as they step out of their comfort zones to do presentations, perform, and lead masses at OLMC Church. While in the second grade, my son did the second reading at mass on Ascension Thursday in front of a full church; when I asked him if he was nervous, he said “no, I was just excited!” Additionally, there is so much interaction between grades – sometimes peer collaboration, other times older kids “buddy up” with the younger students. It is such a great experience for both, giving the older student an opportunity to lead and teach, and the younger students loving the attention from the “big kids.” I start each school year filled with anticipation of all the good things to come – and I’ve never been disappointed.
