Harrison Newark Montessori School (Also serving Bayonne, Kearny, and beyond)

Our child has attended HNMS for the past 5 months and it’s been a great experience with the school and staff. We would highly recommend the school to other parents. Everything is well managed, there are updates during the day and an end of day report, which gives us confidence as parents that the children are well taken care of by the staff. Our child’s teachers are kind, caring, educated, well trained and professional. The Director was welcoming and when we had any concerns about our child starting out in a new school the Director was very helpful, communicative, and approachable. The staff have also been helpful and accommodating when unforeseen issues have come up for us as parents. The classroom itself is beautiful and engaging. I like that there’s indoor and outdoor pairs of shoes for everyone, to keep the classroom clean, especially since this is in an urban area. It’s clear our child is benefiting a lot from the environment, curriculum, staff and classmates at school. We can see their growth in language and skills. Our child is benefitting a lot from the curriculum and social stimulation they get at HNMS. The school has a dynamic variety of educational activities for the children, outdoor playtime, along with high quality meals and snacks provided. We’ve attended one of the events for parents and children and it was lovely. We look forward to more in the future. There’s a general positive vibe at the school among teachers, students, and parents, which makes it a pleasure to be a part of and we’re so appreciative we have it as an option for our child in our area.

As an attachment-focused parent, I prioritize recognizing my little one’s needs and emotions. We’ve been part of HNMS since she was 13 months old, and we’ve had wonderful experiences in every classroom and with each teacher she’s had. The staff has consistently provided excellent communication whenever there are updates or changes, which I really appreciate. I absolutely love receiving photos and activity updates throughout the day. I’ve noticed a remarkable improvement in her vocabulary and social skills, which seem to be developing faster compared to some of our neighbors’ children who attend other centers. I even moved to the area from Manhattan just so she could attend HNMS, and almost a year later, I’m so happy with our decision!

My kid though does not speak English seems to have a good time at school. He joined two months ago. Teachers provide daily activities updates using photos or videos and give timely feedback to me, making my journey of sending a two year old to school painless as a parent. I am happy that teachers prepare so many interesting educational activities for kids to explore and learn from. And teachers are responsive and cooperative to any of my concerns and requirements. I would recommend HNMS.

My kid had great experience in CrestHill (now Harrison Newark Montessori). It’s been almost 2 years with a lot activities, memories, pictures & videos every day. She started as Dolphin and then move up as Goldfish. Thanks Ms Ruby & Ms Matia for taking care of my daughter. And thanks to the staff members Mrs Samantha & Ms Cera for always being responsive.

HNMS was the first school our daughter attended, and I can't say enough good things about our experience here. Every one of the teachers in her classroom gave her attention, love, playtime, and the opportunity to learn and grow while respecting her limits and feelings, and keeping us up-to-date every day. She had a tough adjustment period, and they took her through it effortlessly so that by the time we left (due to an interstate move) she was thrilled to go to school every day - reaching her arms out to her teachers at nearly every drop-off. They have a wonderful curriculum that includes singing, ASL, Spanish/English vocabulary, and fabulous art projects. They have plenty of playtime, one-on-one time, and they introduce the kids to developmentally appropriate concepts as time goes on. The school itself has lovely events for the families, and the administration is extraordinary. You couldn't ask for better with Ms. Cera and Ms. Samantha. Ms. Cera was our first contact and every interaction we had with her was reassuring and warm. I have no idea how they did it, but everyone working in the school knew my little girl's name and us within a few days. Thank you, Ms. Ashley, Ms. Carmen, Ms. Maria, and Ms. Amanda, and everyone else who made our experience so fantastic. We miss you!

I do recommend this school to anyone who is looking for a good quality school with dedicated teachers to taking care of your little ones. It is located in Harrison, near the Harrison path station( 5 -7 min walking). The director will share a lot of fun moments and videos to you regarding to your loved ones. My daughter has been attending the school since January 2023. She really loves her class activities and spends quality time there with her fellow classmates and her super nice teacher Ms. Gemita and Ms. Dee - btw they are awesome and caring! We always get the photos and videos sent to us via Tadpoles App throughout the day from the director which has enlightened my mood by seeing how our sweet little girl doing in the school. Highly recommend sending your little ones to NMS if you want to give them a safe and fun learning environment.
