My child attended this daycare from 11 months-2 yrs old. Lack of information was given to me around my entitlements to childcare subsidy and health and safety policies. Firstly I wasn't given the information around letting staff know if my child has any bruises or injuries so I didn't know I had to tell them how she got a small bruise on her face which was the only and first time she ever had a bruise. So as soon as they noticed it, instead of asking me how she got it. They had informed Oranga Tamariki who chased me up about it and came over to my house expecting an explanation and expected me to take her into the doctors to get a small bruise on her face checked out before I was cleared for child abuse which was total B.S. That morning I dropped her off, I wasn't happy about having to pay for more hours than my child was attending and I Confronted The manager about it and to change her hours so in return she rung O.T on me. In regards to childcare subsidies I wasn't given information around my entitlements so didn't know that I was entitled to a childcare subsidy which I had been paying the full amount for 2 days a week by myself for six months which sucks because It would of made a big difference and been of huge benefit to me and my child to have that extra money available. The manager was pressuring me into enrolling her a full week as she was taking up a space another full time child could take. So I felt like either I had to pull my child out or pay for a full week. That's when I started to look elsewhere and found out about the subsidies. Also I wasn't told that my child was the only girl amongst about 7 boys for months. I only just noticed as I was doing drop offs and pick ups because all the boys around her were being rough and hitting each other including one hitting my child right in front of me, upsetting her. That was the last straw and final reason I pulled her out and sent her elsewhere where they provided all the information around childcare subsidies and full health & safety information aswell as a good mix of boys and girls.

My son Rico started at Bay buddies at about 8months old , such a fantastic daycare I highly recommend this childcare centre. To the lovely & caring ladies who helped care for my son during his time there I appreciate you’s all & we were sad to leave Napier as he had settled in nicely there. As I could see his progress through the stories you’s shared was most helpful & insightful to know some of the things he was involved in was really good to see thankyou all .
