The Montessori School of the Berkshires

The school is what every parent wants for their child. The building and grounds are lovely. The staff is upbeat and kind. The classrooms are full of light and space. With emphasis on community, nature and nurture, my children have thrived in such a setting. I had children who became anxious and sad at public schools. Montessori has revived their spirit. Patient guiding in the classroom, hour outside recess everyday, gardening, cooking, community, this school sets the example what all schools should aim for.

There is nowhere else I would consider sending my child to school; both for who MSB has been for our family over the last seven years, and for the way they handled the transition during the pandemic. My son is thriving at MSB in every way. He loves to learn and seeks out subjects to dive into. He and his friend have better communication skills than most adults I know, he can self-regulate, and he respects the needs of the people around him. I credit his time at MSB and the Montessori pedagogy for this. When COVID-19 hit and the school closed the campus, they had a comprehensive online program up and running in less than a week. There were all sorts of lessons available––art, music, foreign language, geography, geometry. There was social time, reading time, and small group time. There were lessons on and off screen, indoors and out, and LOTS of support for us parents. Although nothing compares to school on campus, I was blown away with the speed and thoroughness of the transition.
