The Cove School

My daughter attended the Cove from 3.5-5 years old, and it was a wonderful experience, full of creativity, independence, and growth. Teachers were thoughtful and dedicated to the kids, the classrooms were full of stimulating activities, and the forest jr-K program was brilliant - 4 hours exploring the forest, rain or shine. I asked my daughter what she liked best, and she said everything, including circle time, forest-K, and releasing salmon in the river. We liked the mix of approaches from mindfulness, Montessori, and social-emotional development. She was well-prepared for kindergarten.

My daughter went to the cove for 3 wonderful years! My favorite thing about the cove is their Forest K program…I loved picking her up at the trailhead covered in mud with a big smile in her face. She is a resilient, kind, insightful 10 year old cruising 4th at Bertschi middle school! My drive from Madrona to W. Seattle for 3 years was totally worth it. We love the Cove.

This is our fourth year at The Cove and we can't say enough positive things! The Cove helped our oldest son develop a great sense of independence and confidence. Through the practice of mindfulness, the teachers also helped him develop the ability to identify his emotions and the tools necessary to regulate those emotions. Now, our second child has entered the program and we're already seeing those same wonderful teachings coming home again. The Cove is a loving and nurturing environment (thanks to the incredible teachers!). We have had learning differences crop up with both of our children and we felt so supported by the school, both inside and outside of the classroom. The Cove School is the perfect transition from home life to school.

My child attended this school from the age of 2 1/2 until they were 5. We decided to withdraw them in September of their pre-K year. Our family has since faced significant challenges that require professional support. In my opinion, the school could have done more to ensure my child’s emotional well-being. Additionally, we were not the only family to leave at that time due to similar concerns. I recommend other parents thoroughly research their methods to ensure it meets their expectations for safety and care, as it did not for our child.
