Stepping Stone School - Kyle/San Marcos

I loved Stepping Stone for my daughter. They made my daughter feel welcomed, loved and valued and that she was just not another child attending their school. Ms. Mel the Chef is AMAZING! You can really tell how much she loves kids and enjoys her job. Ms. Alice the principal is also AMAZING you can tell she definitely wants all her students to be successful in life. The teachers Ms. Cindy and Ms. Emely are great with the kids. Their compassion and patience with the children is refreshing. Although we are moving out of Stepping Stone because we are moving out of the area. I would still would recommend them to the local residents of Kyle.

My son has been attending this location for a year now. I can for sure say things had dramatically improved in the positive direction since the new principal Alice took over. Initially there was quite a bit of turnover with both his teachers, assistant principals and principal which caused inconsistent results but things are now well stabilized with great teachers that he is comfortable with. He initially used to always cry during drop off, but with a stable teacher now, that’s a thing of the past. They ensure he is soothed and comfortable during drop off, at the end of the day provide a run down of activities that was done and how he participated. The teachers endeavor to keep the classrooms clean and tidy and the property is overall very secure with artificial turf in the play area. Also, the cook is an amazing lady. Based off the work and effort the new principal has put in, I can confidently recommend this place to other parents .

Ms Alice is an exceptional principal who really cares for the kids here. It can be really difficult to feel good about leaving your kiddo with people all day, but the staff here goes above in beyond in making the place feel like home. My daughter loves it here!

I’m shocked by any of these recent negative reviews. My son started with Stepping Stone at 3 months and it was a hard transition for me. The staff in the infant - 12 month class have been absolutely amazing ! They are attentive to my child’s needs, show him so such love and affection, and I can tell they genuinely care about him. Of all the facilities in the area, Stepping Stone was by far the cleanest and had the friendliest staff. I cannot say enough great things about this place! My son’s face lights up when we walk through the door and he loves the ladies in his class. He’s only 5 months but will be attending until he starts kinder.

My step daughter recently transfered her from another location. I have no complaints. She talks highly of her teachers and enjoys the after school program.

Both Shay and Emma in the gigabytes class have been so sweet and helpful to my family! I feel relief leaving my baby with them and the care they provide. I love their open communication with us and keeping us informed at pickup/drop off. Both Alice and Chef Mel are always so kind and helpful whenever I'm there and always give my little one attention.

School in need of a huge overhaul from management to teacher training and everything in between. No consistency in classrooms, especially when they combine classes, little attention to children’s wellbeing (not fully cleaned after dirty diaper changes, wouldn’t wipe runny noses, lost several items of my children’s’ clothing, etc.), little to no help with our potty training efforts and classes are *constantly* over capacity. Four different principals and VPs in the 13 months we were there, and a revolving door of teachers. A handful of teachers and Chef Mel are their only saving grace. Chef Mel is an absolute queen, is so kind, genuinely cares about the work she does and deserves a medal and a raise.
