The best staff! Such a great place :)

We have had a wonderful experience with our children attending Southwood Learning Center. The teachers are tentative, kind, and deeply care about the children in their care. We have seen our son, 2.5, flourish in ways we could not find at our previous 2 daycares. His teachers meet him where he is at developmentally. They are adaptive, accommodating, and understanding that each child has different needs as they grow and learn. Our daughter, 1, has learned and developed at her own pace. She is supported by teachers who lean into her interests and allow her the space to explore those. We love SWLC and highly recommend them to those seeking childcare.

As a first-time mom, I was anxious about finding the perfect learning center for my daughter, but I knew it was time for her to start her educational journey. After researching and visiting various centers in my area, I stepped into SWLC and instantly knew it was the ideal fit for my child. As a teacher myself, I prioritized a focus on learning skills, and SWLC has exceeded my expectations with their differentiated learning approach tailored to each child's needs. Effective communication was crucial for me, and SWLC excels in this area, providing daily reports and pictures of my daughter's activities. I've witnessed her transformation from a shy child to a confident individual forming wonderful connections with her peers. The warm and welcoming staff, small class sizes, and personalized attention have all contributed to a nurturing environment that feels like a family. I'm impressed by the principal's personal knowledge of my daughter's personality and adaptability in tailoring activities to meet her needs. Her teacher, Ms. Wendy, has even gone the extra mile by gifting my daughter a personalized Elsa-themed egg, acknowledging her obsession with the character! She is truly the best and I am thankful to have her as my daughter’s teacher. Since enrolling my daughter in SWL in January, I plan to keep her there until she enters Kindergarten. I appreciate how they make learning meaningful through projects and monthly activities, as well as involving parents in events like picnics. While I admire the Montessori method, I'm more grateful to know that my child is not only well cared for but also loved and cherished while I'm at work.

My daughter has attended SWLC for 3 months and it has been the best decision. She started at 20 months, and she was a super shy girl so we were worried. She cried for less than 2 weeks and now she is happy to get to school and really enjoys it. She has improved her social skills. She knows numbers, and some colors in english and spanish. They have an app where they post daily pictures, every diaper change, how they eat, if any accident happened, what they learned during the day. They have events every month which makes it fun for everyone.

Para mí les falta más atención para el cuidado de los niños, poco personal. Siempre que la llevaba en la mañana solo una maestra estaba recibiendo a varios de diferentes edades. Les cuento mi última experiencia que fue la que me hizo decidir a sacarla de alli. El día 1 de marzo saque a mi hija de allí por un incidente que paso!! Un padre abrió una "puerta" y la golpeó fuertemente. Eso fue el día viernes, yo había pagado la matrícula ese día en la mañana antes de enterarme. el lunes no la lleve más! La saqué de allí! Me dijeron que solo me iban a descontar lo del día viernes 1 de marzo y pues no! Me quitaron la mitad de la matrícula y cosa que la saqué por el incidente. No era la primera vez que me llegaba con algún hematoma, lo veía normal por qué son niños y ellos les encanta jugar! Pero ya con lo que pasó ya no tengo confianza en los anteriores. Quedé muy decepcionada ya que a mi hija le gusta estar con sus amigos y aprender cosas nuevas.

My daughter has been in several daycares but none have compared to Southwood. My 3 y/o used to cry every day at drop off time until we switched to SWLC, she runs right into her teachers arms. It feels like a community the way they communicate with the parents and care for the children. I recommend this school to all my local friends! -update: I posted this review 3 years ago and my daughter has since aged out of the program. We still talk about SWLC years later and miss the community of amazing women. If Rania and Nazneen are still running this school, do your family a favor and sign up immediately.
