Montessori of Calabasas

We have three children’s 6, 4 and 3. We pulled our 3yr old daughter out less than a year into the program. There are a number of reasons, very poor communication with parents (regarding anything about your child), very high attrition rate of staff/teachers, all these are concerns but once I saw a staff member publically shame a 2-3year old for soiling their underwear and changing them naked on the floor of the bathroom and forcing them into a diaper as punishment, I could not leave our child there for another day. I have tried looking up their license and owner information and am finding it almost impossible to find. Rather than the owner or a senior staff member reaching out, we were contacted by Donna a former employee “a friend of the owner and school” to mitigate the situation. Very bizarre.

Our infant daughter goes to Montesorri and has since she was 3 months old. We have loved every minute of our experience. The teachers are all wonderful and have such a caring attitude for the children. I highly recommend the school to others!

Montessori of Calabasas follows the principle of all Montessori schools, which is to put an emphasis on individual learning for every student. Free thinking is encouraged from an early age and from the infant classrooms on up thru first grade. Students may stay from 6:30am to 6pm every night, offering flexible scheduling and after-school care where independent research is encouraged throughout the day. Such complex and advanced skills as simple Spanish are taught each day in an enrichment activity, giving kids a huge head start on what's to come! Students from Montessori have even been proven to ask more provocative questions, turn in work on time more, and adapt to changing situations better later in life, proving that the personal time given really does make a difference.

As the parent of older and younger Montessori educated children, I can offer a true review of what I consider to be a quality school. The education at M of C is tailored to the child, so if your child is advanced, they will expose her/him to the next level of academics. The teachers are approachable, professional, and deeply caring. It was after my initial interactions with the owners of this school, some time ago that my wife and I went into Montessori education ourselves. We value the confidence that Montessori instills in children. Teachers are at the core of the education and Calabasas has some of the best, with very low turnover. I highly recommend visiting the school and touring the facility. I would encourage you to drop in as time permits and speak to parents and teachers about their experience.

I would not recommend this place. I took my baby to this place after being convinced by the owner that this was the best. My experience, it was such a horrible experience. My baby was left in wet diapers every day, he had a diaper rash, that looked painful. He was always upset and tired all the time. The workers do not care. They have a poor attitude and always blame the parents for everything that goes wrong. they have poor excuses for when you ask questions. There were alot of other issues that I could talk about here but I would be here all day. Put it this way if you love your child and want the best for him or her, stay clear of this place. My baby is now in a much better daycare where he is taken care of and loved. No more diaper rash, he is much happier. From a concerned Mother
