Hill City Montessori School

This place is truly special. My son has been going here for a little under a month now, and he is starting to really have fun here learning and meeting people. The teachers treat him as one of their own. They have instilled a confidence in me I didn’t know I needed as a mother. My son and I both feel like we are finally part of a great community and we have both been treated with such respect and love.

HCMS has been a great learning environment for all three of my young children, the teachers and owners are more than educators but also family. We are so blessed to be apart of this community. HCMS has supported my family in many ways and we could not be more grateful.

What an incredible gift to families in our community that Hill City Montessori is here to care for kids, embedding from early childhood values that help them understand the world they share with others, which includes people who are different from them and always deserving of kindness and acceptance. Every interaction I've had with Hill City Montessori School has been phenomnal! Utmost respect for this institution and they do excellent work in the community!

So grateful for the amazing work HCMS does for our community! Every family I know with kids there loves it—creative lessons that encourage curiosity, kids see how to support their own learning processes, great safety and protection policies, talented staff and thoughtful, evidence-based curriculum.

We have been at HCMS since not long after it first opened, and it is so much more than a daycare, but a school and community. We consider ourselves lucky to have found a school for our child where we rest easy knowing she is safe, not only physically, but also mentally and emotionally. We, as a whole family, are grateful to have found a community where all people can feel safe and included. Inclusivity at HCMS is not only a principle that is spoken of, but is practiced. My child’s Montessori education not only teaches her about language, math, and science, but also models for her how to be a kind and caring human, all while her own safety and autonomy is protected. As a mother and a community member, I could not be more grateful for this safe community to help educate and inspire my child. I hope that others learn from their example to bring about a safer and kinder world for us all.

As a member of the higher education community here in Lynchburg, I have had the privilege of working with the owners/teachers at this school in many capacities and through various community organizations. These educators are passionate about the children they are entrusted with and continuously participate in and lead trainings to make sure they bring the highest level of instruction and inclusion to their students.
