Au Bonheur des Enfants - French Immersion Daycare

I'm so glad I found this place for my daughter. Khadija and Saad are kind, patient, and very supportive. I can see that they truly care and love my daughter. The facility is clean, they prepare fresh meals for the kids every day, and they give each child the attention they need. It’s also fun to hear my daughter occasionally say a few French words at home!

Exceptional Daycare with Caring Owners and a Great Environment! Our daughter had an absolutely wonderful experience at Au Bonheur des Enfants, and we couldn’t be more grateful. From the moment we met Khadija and Saad, the owners and caregivers, we knew we had found a special place. They are incredibly kind, caring, and attentive, treating our daughter like family every single day. The warm, nurturing environment made a huge difference in her comfort and happiness, and we always felt confident she was in good hands. The immersive, engaging setting at Au Bonheur des Enfants encouraged our daughter’s overall growth and development. We were amazed at how much she blossomed during her time there, learning important social skills and gaining confidence in her abilities. Thanks to their excellent care and guidance, she was more than ready for preschool and excited to continue learning. On top of the educational benefits, the food at Au Bonheur des Enfants was outstanding. Khadija and Saad provided healthy, delicious, and nutritious meals, which our daughter really enjoyed. It’s not easy to find a daycare where both the environment and the meals are so well thought out, and this truly stood out to us. Located in a calm, friendly neighborhood on the East side of Lansing, near Michigan State University, Au Bonheur des Enfants is the perfect setting for young children to thrive. If you’re looking for a daycare where your child will be well cared for, learn in a supportive environment, and be treated like family, we highly recommend Au Bonheur des Enfants!

Au bonheur des enfants is a wonderful daycare! Khadija and Saad are extremely attentive , patient and nurturing caregivers. My two children have grown up with them in an engaging , warm environment that has fostered their autonomy and socialization with other children. As an early childhood teacher myself, having experience in other daycare and school settings, I can say with confidence that Khadija and Saad’s daycare is very well run with a nutritious, weekly meal plan , developmentally appropriate educational practices and consistent daily routines. They are conscientious in following the children’s rhythm and pace. I particularly appreciated how seamless and carefree my children’s potty training experiences were !! As a mother of French-American children, I have been very pleased to see that my children’s receptive and expressive French language has been kept in regular practice via short, playful mini-lessons during their stay at Au Bonheur des Enfants. If you are looking for nurturing , trusted and experienced daycare providers who foster a whole child approach to caregiving, I highly recommend Khadija and Saad. They are exceptional !!

We choose to send our child to Au Bonheur des Enfants because we wanted an excellent environment for them to grow and thrive. Here they provide ample free play time, structured learning to prepare for school, a healthy food regime, effectively no screen time, and all while learning a second language. Khadija and Saad really go above and beyond as evidenced by the food, providing a large variety of fruit and entrees for the children, while also taking allergies and food preferences into account. In addition, every birthday is celebrated with a party and my child is always happy to see them. Overall, all I can say is c'est magnifique!

Our son has been going to Au Bonheur des Infants for almost a year now and we couldn’t be happier to have him enrolled here! Khadija and Saad are so professional in all that they do and you can see they truly care for each child, our son lights up when he sees them. We love that the day is structured mixed with lessons and play. Everything is clean and organized. They provide food taking into consideration any dietary or allergy restrictions, of course. Khadija always makes a habit to check in with me and see how I’m doing as a new parent too, which is so kind. Most importantly though I feel like our son is in a safe, caring environment and I have never doubted that for a second since the first day of drop off. We feel incredibly lucky to have found them and can’t wait to watch our son thrive even further in their care!

EDIT: It feels like only a short time has passed since we first enrolled in this wonderful daycare, but it's been a year or so! And as that time has moved on so, too, must our child. They have moved out and up to pre-school proper. I wanted to return to this review and update it with how pleased and thankful my partner and I are at having our child accepted into this institution. Everything below has held true and my only regret is not trying to apply sooner. It's a wonderful place with two authentically awesome care givers for a child to grow up and 100% worth it. ORIGINAL: 5 stars is no joke for this French Immersion Daycare. Au Bonheur des Enfants delivers a satisfactory experience in every single way, every single day. The food Khadija and Saad serve is not only communicated clearly to the parents, with a menu taped to their front door every week, but it is also always chock full of healthy recipes. Fresh fruits and vegetables are the norm. The space used by Au Bonheur des Enfants is wonderful. There is an entire backyard's worth of space that is available for the children to play when the weather is nice and a purpose-driven segmented space inside to handle the rotation of tasks during the day. Eating and sleeping upstairs, while the noisier play and bathroom spaces are downstairs. Perhaps my favorite aspect is that there are no screens; no TVs get used to keep children busy for a moment or anything. With how ubiquitous and easy it is to use even just a little bit of screen time to corral children it is a relief to know that no corners are cut when it comes to making sure the children are cared for properly. Our child's progression in picking up French has been phenomenal. What starts as a few basic greetings soon has them counting over 10, pointing out colors on their placemat, and even responding sometimes to a question in french; i.e. Mom: "Look at that!" Child: "*gasp* regardé!". Khadija and Saad also take the time to give you a personal moment with that child during the day. Occassionally we will receive a text message with a picture, a video, or just talking about a special moment that had happened. It's lovely to be able to get a view into your child's day while unable to be there with them. The peace of mind we get knowing our child is eating healthy food in a screen-free, compassionate, diverse, and educational environment from people who truly love and enjoy caring for children is priceless. I couldn't recommend applying to Au Bonheur des Enfants higher!

We have loved every second here ! Wonderful with the kids, comes to birthday parties for them and makes each kid feel welcome and special ! They are learning everyday and I am amazed at what my child is learning ! Merci !!

Hands down one of the best daycares in the Lansing area. Kadija and Saad are an organized, well-prepared, and caring team who have provided a consistent and nourishing environment for my two children for 2 years. They cook amazing, fresh foods for the kids, which range from about 6mo-5years. They are always getting the kids to try new foods, but remain hyper vigilant about any food allergies. They also try new activities with the kids and have daily French lessons. The kids have a set routine where they explore and learn with free play while also maintaining a structure for lessons and life skills (using cups or utensils, manners, potty training, hand washing). Kadija and Saad are extremely responsible, and provide dates a year in advanced of their scheduled vacation. They are also available via text or call any time if you want updates, pictures, or anything! I HIGHLY recommend Au Bonheur des Enfants for your childcare needs.
