My child started Reception at this school, and so far, every experience has been positive. I love how visible the principal is and how quickly she takes action in all aspects of the school. The school makes great efforts to expose students to a wide variety of interests and activities. The sense of community is second to none. I would recommend this school to any parent who values independence and quality education.

Before becoming a parent I chose Southern Montessori School after observing two of their young students do a random act of kindness in the community of their own accord. I see from a few older reviews that past families have reported issues with leadership, particularly with regards to children with additional needs, however that has not been my experience with the current leadership at all. I have one child in Year 3 and another in Reception and they are absolutely thriving at the School. Every member of staff, from Admin to Leadership, seem to genuinely care for the students and this contributes to a nurturing environment that enables each child to develop practical and academic skills and knowledge in their own unique way. Both children attended the Toddler Program, Friday Program and Preschool which was a fantastic education for the whole family regarding the Montessori principles and curriculum, enabling independence and an easy transition into the Primary School. Both children are passionate self-motivated learners that understand the values of kindness, inclusivity and caring for our natural world. I couldn’t be more thankful to the School!

The sense of community within the school is excellent, the teachers are wonderful, my children enjoy going to school here and the education reaches beyond the the classroom. The practical life components and the great stories are enjoyed throughly and are often talked about at home. I cannot recommend this school highly enough.

We moved our three neurodivergent children(ADHD, ASD) here for a term 2 start this year, and a supportive environment where the kids learning needs would be listened to and accounted for was a top priority for us. Changing schools was an incredibly big deal and we were worried about the fallout initially. However, we are so relieved and happy to find that the school has been incredibly understanding, helpful and supportive across a range of different challenges and topics. They have provided the flexibility and understanding that our kids really need to thrive. Their personal interests are encouraged, their strengths played to and their areas needing more capacity building are given a multifaceted approach of support while collaborating with the students themselves. We are delighted and joyful to be part of such a friendly and welcoming community, and look forward to our coming years at Southeen Montessori!

I went here up to year 6. The school is tiny and adorable. The environment is great. Most people know each other. There are good teachers and bad teachers. You have to get lucky. Not very supportive of special needs or gifted kids, they are ignored. It is right next to another school. Children can yell at each other through the fences. That school has after school hours care that Montessori kids can attend.
