You must tour this school! Our family adores Banksia Montessori School and the wonderful staff. Our experience at Banksia has been exceptional! Montessori education has been such a gift for our kids, their gorgeous photo portfolios are so heartwarming to view, and they are so proud of the jobs they have accomplished. The facilities are brilliant, the students have a large outdoor area to play with 2 playground options plus a lovely sand pit, mud kitchens, and much more - all just for the one classroom! Students are so happy and fulfilled, our kids always love going back to visit the educators and have the most beautiful memories of their time at Banksia. The parent community is supportive and welcoming. It is a very unique place, and we feel it's the best start we could have given our kids. If you are looking for a beautiful small school with passionate educators and a strong community network, you will love Banksia Montessori.

Can thoroughly recommend this hidden gem of a school! As a parent of a child who is is one of the youngest in his peer group, we had our apprehensions about sending him to school, so early but he loves going! (Such a stark contrast to the daycare he dreaded attending prior.) Montessori education is really great for young kids in finding the balance between structure and autonomy. Small class size, great close-knit parent community. All the staff have been there for years, and are fully invested in to supporting the children's growth and well being ♥ Now if we can only find where to send him for primary school!

Banksia Montessori School is an amazing small school. I have chosen this school for my children because it is a good transition from being at home to a small community school where teacher to student ratio is great: 1 teacher for a maximum to 10 students. Moreover, the school has a Montessori philosophy and I found this important for my children's development to be able to have choices according to their needs and interests. I would definitely recommend this school to all parents.

This is a gem of a school. I have a current child attending and a graduated neurodiverse child. Pros: The teachers are passionate and provide unconditional positive regard and relationship building first before academics. Once the kids reach pre-primary, they are so proud to be the big kids of the school, their confidence shoots through the roof. Environment is always calm and kids are happy and self assured. I actually removed my second child from a different school and brought him back here. The teacher to child ratio is the best you will find especially in Pre-Primary. The teachers partner with you during any child struggles and they provide caring attachments. The parent community is beautiful, warm and down to earth. Montessori children learn important social and emotional norms and are able to play really nicely together. Sometimes i have had 7 Montessori boys at my home and they play so nicely, its no trouble at all. Montessori method: Natural leadership skills arise when the kids know their place and their rules, they teach other children. The age difference means the big kids look after the little kids and teach them. Parents are allowed to come in each week for 15 minutes to see what they have been working on. There are many firm boundaries within in freedom of choice with the jobs, contrary to the believe that Montessori a non academic environment, it's very prepared, organised, academic and also allows choice. My first child attended just before the age of 4 so didn't start at 3. He had been at daycare before then. The transition was fine. Cons: 1/2 days can be tricky for some to manage in the first year. I couldn't have asked for a better start to life for my two boys. I'll be sad to finish here.
